Those
young birds have left the nest and retirement is on the horizon.
It's finally time to do your own thing. To create
your own successful venture that can bring you a kind of personal satisfaction that no job can deliver.
But then, in 2008, the global financial crisis struck like a tsunami, sweeping away the hopes, dreams, jobs, businesses, investments, homes and life-savings of millions of Baby Boomers nearing retirement.
Now, more than ever before, Baby Boomers need a lot more than the
fading illusion of "job security" and the
prospect of spending twenty-five years in retirement with
not enough money to enjoy it. We need vision, planning, practical know-how and expert guidance to get our lives back on course and help us prepare for an uncertain future.
Horror stories abound. We hear every day of people
like ourselves who plunge into a business of
their own and lose everything! Even part-time
ventures can lead to disastrous debt and bleak futures,
at a time when we should be looking forward to a bright
and fulfilling time of life, not a fate worse than
death (living too long with too little money).
The Internet is the new frontier of the 21st century
It's the Promised Land. But it's a whole different business universe online. It has more in common with the Wild West of the 19th century — carpetbaggers, snake oil salesmen and criminal gangs roam freely, ready and willing to fleece the naive, the desperate, the inexperienced and gullible. (There's a reason why www so often seems to stand for Wild Wild Web.)
Most online business success stories seem to come from our younger siblings and older children — Generations X and Y
The television and video/computer games generation… the Sesame Street® kids with super-short attention spans and lightning-fast strategic thinking, who've taken instant gratification to a whole new dimension. And, while Baby Boomers can certainly learn from them, most of us don't even speak their language, let alone really understand their unique culture. (They were forced to create their own, or risk being smothered by the stifling cultural blanket of the post-war generation… us!)
Remember the Generation Gap and Cultural Divide of the 60s and 70s that we used to talk about between us and our pre-war-generation parents? Well, it's happened again, without us noticing. In our case, we took to the streets. In the next generation's case, they simply went underground, hiding in plain view — and being taught by the brightest and best of our own generation.
So is there any hope for Baby Boomers to succeed in this brave new world? Or have we finally reached our use-by date?
Think about it carefully…
- Which generation still has the REAL numbers, wealth, economic and political clout?
- Who invented or refined most of the current business systems, marketing and distribution models?
- And who still dominates the media, entertainment, publishing, finance, hospitality, travel and tourism industries? Not to mention manufacturing, services, the professions and trades?
- And mostly at the ownership, executive management and policy-making levels?
Yes… it's the Baby Boomers!
We also have the education, experience, resources and contacts — and the proven ability to launch and guide successful new enterprises, especially in a world that's still shaped and directed, to a huge extent, by our own generation.
But here's the problem… and it's a serious problem that few very few people seem to be aware of.
The advertising and marketing professions are relative newcomers. They only really came into their own in the post-war era — the second half of last century. And both are essentially the same: they're professions that require the enthusiasm, creativity and energy of youth to stay vibrant and dynamic. By the time you reach 40, you're ready to be put out to pasture. In advertising, the typical age of an ad agency chief executive is below 35 years.
There's now almost no-one left in these pivotal professions — at the coal-face, anyway — who really understands the Baby Boomers or speaks our language!
Have you noticed that almost all advertising now targets Generations X, Y and Z? Unless they're advertising funeral insurance, retirement resorts, travel, "grey power" issues or incontinence products, our own generation has become effectively invisible. And the ads don't speak to us in our own voice.
So what does this all mean?
It means that there's a MASSIVE global market place that's NOT being properly served by the marketing and advertising professions, for two important reasons:
- The Baby Boomers are not the same generation as those in control of today's marketing and advertising professions.
- The marketing and advertising professions no longer understand or connect with Baby Boomers.
There's a NEW Generation Gap and Cultural Divide in our society
The Profit Clinic's original plan was to set up a new network of international ad agencies and marketing consultancies run by experienced professionals from the Baby Boomer generation. These agencies would be part of a powerful strategic alliance serving mainstream businesses and other ad agencies with targeted strategies and creative concepts that would reach our Generation much more effectively than the current cross-generational model.
But with the arrival of the current financial crisis, we realized that there was a more pressing need that we could meet, even more effectively...
We could teach, train and support Baby Boomers needing to survive and thrive in their own online and offline businesses — usually with little or no previous business experience.
In fact, this has been our primary market and our #1 role for almost 30 years! We know this market and this process thoroughly — and we've been doing it online, successfully, since 1996.
In other words, we already know this exact market and these precise processes thoroughly, and we have an enviable track record of success over more than 25 years.
Our revolutionary Business
4 Boomers system is the ideal, low-cost, low-risk
solution for Baby Boomers looking to launch their own
businesses in an environment where you can enjoy the
